Every year, on October 29th (the day of the founding of the Republic of Turkiye in 1923), we proudly fly the Turkish flag at Calgary City Hall. This is a very momentous occasion for us as both young and old members come to watch the raising of the flag.
Come join us this year once again at 11:00am on October 29, 2022!
We are very excited this year to be celebrating the 99th year of the founding of the Republic of Turkiye by Mustafa Kemal Ataturk.
To commemorate the occasion, we are having a Celebration Ball on October 29th, 2022.
It will take place at the Sheraton Suites Eau Claire with coctails beginning at 6:00pm and dinner service at 7:00pm and music at 9:00pm.
For the music portion, we are bringing a well-known musician from Turkiye, Suat Suna. His style of music has delighted a generation of music lovers beginning in the 1990s and continues to impress with ambitious duets and solo tracks. We are thrilled to be able to bring Suna to Calgary and we are looking forward to an unforgettable night.
To find out more about Suat Suna, please check out his website.
We always want our kids to be involved with 29 Ekim celebrations. Although this is a formal event, we invite our youth to also accompany their parents and come to the ball. We will have two large separate rooms next to the ball room at the Sheraton Suites in Eau Claire, complete with an entertainer, food and an adult to keep an eye on the kids so their parents can enjoy the evening.
The English word for our nation has now been changed officially.
As of June 1st, 2022, Turkey will now be called TÜRKIYE - which is the way it is said in Turkish.
We concluded our annual Turkish pavilion at Global Fest. We had tremendous response from Calgarians who wanted to find out more about Turkiye and products made in Turkiye like Turkish Coffee and Cay. Thanks to some of our sponsors Sasi Kedi, the sales exceeded all of our expectations. Come visit the photo gallery to see what we did.
The Turkish Women's National Volleyball Team came to Calgary in late June of 2022 as they took on Canada and lost by a narrow margin. Our members enjoyed the excitement and exhilaration of the top notch volleyball matches as we cheered on in style. Check out the photos here...
